WHEN SHE ARRIVES

When she arrives
With her wings and her  weapons
Take care to close my eyes
And that my mouth is not
Ravished by flies;
Wash me well, comb my hair,
Trim my nails and  anoint me with smelling unguents;
Lay me face down upon the ground
I’m sure she loves me enough
To make room for me at her side.
